Summer Office Closure

The CEESA office will close for the Summer on June 15. Your patience is kindly requested: e-mail will still be answered, but perhaps not as quickly as usual. The office will reopen in mid-August.

New Executive Director Appointed

The Central and Eastern European Schools Association (CEESA) Executive Committee and Board of Directors are very happy to announce the appointment of Ms. Kathy Stetson to the position of Executive Director of CEESA. Kathy will assume full responsibilities for this position in the summer of 2011 following a year of transition activities during the 2010-11 school year.

Kathy is currently a Senior Account Executive for International Partners for NWEA (Northwest Evaluation Association) in Portland, Oregon, and in this role has pioneered NWEA's Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) onto the global stage. She is responsible for coordinating enrollment and professional development activities as well as providing project management services for international schools. Ms Stetson has a broad background in K-12 education serving as an elementary teacher, principal, central office administrator, consultant and professional development coordinator. She went to UC Berkeley and Portland State University for her undergraduate studies and has a Master in Education from Lewis and Clark College, where she also received Administration and Superintendent Certifications.

Ms. Stetson grew up in the San Francisco, CA area and has called Portland, Oregon home since 1975. She has three grown children, Daniel, Laura and Sean, and an Australian Shepherd pet named Lilly. Please join with us in congratulating Kathy on this appointment and welcoming her to this new assignment!

What CEESA Does

CEESA sponsors a wide variety of activities. Student activities include a Cultural Arts Festival, celebrations and sports of all kinds, and more. CEESA supports the teachers of its member schools with Teachers' Job-Alikes (JALs), and all kinds of resources. In addition there is the Annual Conference, bringing together 250 teachers for professional growth and social interaction. CEESA organizes several meetings in the year for school administrators for collaboration, planning and conversation.
