VIS Grade 11 Students Shine at Zero Project Conference

Reaffirming our commitment to fostering a culture of empathy, understanding, and empowerment within our school community and beyond.
From Tuesday, February 20th to Friday, February 23rd, a group of approximately 40 dedicated Grade 11 students embarked on a meaningful journey to the Austrian Parliament and the United Nations. Their mission? To actively participate in the Zero Project Conference as part of their Community, Action, and Service (CAS) program.
The Zero Project Conference, an annual gathering spearheaded by Martin Essl, is a beacon of innovation and inclusivity. This year, the conference spotlighted the theme of “Inclusive Education & ICT,” underscoring the importance of leveraging technology to foster a world without barriers for individuals with disabilities.
Among the highlights of the event were captivating performances by the globally renowned White Hands Chorus Nippon. With over 1,000 attendees hailing from more than 100 countries, including numerous Zero Project Awardees, the conference buzzed with enthusiasm and collaboration.
Our Grade 11 students embraced their roles with enthusiasm, seamlessly transitioning between behind-the-scenes coordination and front-of-house assistance. From guiding participants to their designated conference rooms to managing the wardrobe and ensuring punctuality, our students demonstrated remarkable organisational prowess. Moreover, the students lent their talents to various tasks such as assisting photographers and facilitating smooth transitions throughout the event.
As our students reflect on their invaluable contributions to this event, they can take pride in their role as catalysts for change on a global scale. In celebrating the achievements of our Grade 11 students at the Zero Project Conference, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering a culture of empathy, understanding, and empowerment within our school community and beyond. Together, we continue to pave the way towards a more inclusive and equitable future for all.
