Stronger Together: Building Community in Secondary

Bringing our secondary students together in creative and meaningful ways is one of our favorite traditions here at QSI Astana. Last year, we capped off the school year with an unforgettable Amazing Race activity that had students teaming up to tackle a variety of challenges on and off campus. The week was packed with excitement as teams competed for points and prizes, but the real reward was watching new friendships form and our secondary community grow closer in ways we hadn’t seen before.
This year, we’ve kept the momentum going with fun, high-energy community-building activities. Within the secondary, students have worked together to build balloon towers, cup towers, and paper towers in mixed-grade groups. These challenges aren’t just about constructing the tallest or strongest towers—they’ve been an opportunity for students to problem-solve, communicate, and truly work as a team. And while the activities may be simple, the laughter, energy, and camaraderie they spark are anything but ordinary.
Through these activities, students have discovered how much they can achieve by working together. Whether problem-solving, communicating, or just sharing a laugh, these moments have brought our secondary community closer in meaningful ways. We’re excited to continue building on this foundation with more engaging challenges and opportunities throughout the year.
